Each year we receive a large number of orphaned baby opossums.  In many cases the mother is killed by an automobile as she was slowly crossing the road.  Often we are able to raise many of the orphans and release them back into the wild.  Opossums are North America's only native marcupials.  They are beneficial to our gardens as they feed on snails, bugs and decaying fruits and other debris.
